Early

When you get a job interview
the experts, they advise
Don’t get there too early
because it isn’t wise

Why do interviewers prefer
people who are barely in time
Is it some bizarre prejudice
which makes it seem sublime?

Does the boss know about this
Does the boss prefer
people who show up nearly-late
as though promptness is absurd?

I think this is seriously lame
if you give jobs to slow-pokes
This inept method of hiring
sounds like a badly-written joke

If potential-hirees don’t care enough
to show up good and early
This should count against them
a normal person would think, surely

Your hiring-practices are wrong
You ought to know by now
And the next time the interviewee shows up early
Geez — don’t have a cow!
