1962 Diary of a Minnesota Housewife — Pt. 15

Sat. Feb.17. Marge & Pat to choir practice. Art took Marge to her music lesson & back. Art looked at 2 jobs this morning. He put down tar paper & then marked the studs & cut the plywood to fit. Got 3 sheets down. Cut the boys’ hair & promised them 50 cents a wk for school bank savings! Made 2 peach-apricot pies today & a pkg. cake. Sun. Feb.18. 20 degrees this morning. It had snowed during the night and it was blowing. Girls went at 8:30 to sing at choir. Boys went at 9:30. Art finished fitting the plywood in the girls’ new room. Swept up the sawdust. We watched Wide World of Sports — surfboarding in Hawaii, and bobsledding in Switzerland in the Bavarian Alps. Next, the tour of the White House. We had missed the first 20 minutes when it was on the first time. Studied Spanish some.
