1946 Diary of a Minnesota Farmer Pt. 3

April 18 – rain. To town today. Took in cream. Sent in 1 film to American Studios, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Roads are fairly good. Let cows out – fed them. Harrowed in p.m. Friday – usual day. John Nelson got 12 lbs potatoes. Saturday – Helped pick rocks. Gassed Case S [tractor] – took it out. Took cream & eggs to Isle. Talked to Mrs.Mcleod – Jake and lumber clerk. Got letter from Christie. Hallstrom & Kenneth were here at noon, bought 7 head of 2 yr. olds 651. No cash exchanged yet…Clarence came home this morning. Washed clothes & my hair. Milked alone again. Sunday – Hauled out 2 loads [manure]. Pa & Clarence fixed his car door. I went to church, came home at 1:30…Went to Anne’s at 3:00. Stopped in Onamia. Bought 3 pts. ice cream. Had a nice time, took 4 pictures of Baby & Clarence. Got home at 7:15 p.m. Cleaned barn again – fed cows, ate supper & milked at 8:15. Done at 9:45. Pasted 2 pics in an album. Off to bed at 10:30.
